For Blake Lively, the dismissal of her harassment allegation against Justin Baldoni is a “huge blow” and a “huge victory” for Baldoni, an attorney said.
But a second legal staff told it People that her unrejected claims are still “strong.”
On Thursday, a written ruling from a federal judge dismissed Blake’s majority of allegations, including sexual harassment, defamation and conspiracy. Only some claims, such as breach of contract and retaliation, are allowed to proceed.
Entertainment litigation attorney Gregory L. Doll characterized the ruling as a win for Baldoni, while calling the trial a “tough” road for Blake.
But attorney Megan Thomas said the remaining claims are still “strong” and that the actor and producer are “not off the hook.”
Gregory insisted: “The individual sexual harassment claims… have always been very weak.”
He continued, “It’s a huge blow for Blake’s part, and it’s a huge win for Justin. I think she has a tough road ahead… proving that retaliation and damages will be very difficult.”
The lawyer added that Baldoni is now not personally connected to the lawsuit and that the remaining claims are against the companies involved in the case.
On the other hand, Megan, a sexual harassment lawyer, said: “Some claims were dismissed, including sexual harassment, because they were not legally viable.
“The remaining claims, breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting retaliation, are more substantial and will continue to develop.”
She agrees that the ruling is “a blow to Lively,” but points out that Baldoni is “not off the hook.”
