BTS dethrones Kanye West from the charts

BTS just secured the top spot on the American billboard 200 with their latest album, Arirangwho beat Kanye West’s album, bully, chances of landing a second week at the top of the chart.

The K-pop group’s album held steady at number one on the album chart with 187,000 equivalent album units, down 71% from its one-week opening hit of 641,000, according to Variety.

Last week, Arirang became BTS’s seventh number one album and scored the biggest sales week for an album by any group in over a decade.

Meanwhile, Kanye West, who now goes by the name Ye, has released his album Bully has reached number two on the charts.

Bully is the rapper’s 14th album to enter the top 10, debuting with 152,000 equivalent album units, with some expressing surprise at its strong performance given West’s well-documented hate speech in recent years.

Bullywhich was released on March 28 after numerous delays, ahead of a pair of sold-out concerts at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles earlier this week, where the rapper performed a handful of songs from the album, as well as previous hits.

Elsewhere on the US chart, Melanie Martinez debuted at number three Hades; Morgan Wallens I am the problem dropped from number three to four; and Yeat came in at number 5 with ADL. Harry Styles’ Kiss all the time. Disco, occasionally slipped to number 10.
