Michael Patrick, known for his appearance in ‘Game of Thrones’, has died at the age of 35.

The writer and actor struggled with a muscle condition called Motor Neuron Disease. In February 2023, he was diagnosed with an incurable health condition.

The Irish native’s wife, Naomi Sheehan, announced the heartwarming news on Instagram on April 8.

“Last night Mick sadly passed away in the Northern Ireland Hospice,” she wrote. “He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease on February 1, 2023. He was admitted 10 days ago and was cared for by the wonderful team there. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Words cannot describe how heartbroken we are.”

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke website, “Motor neuron diseases (MNDs) are a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurons, the cells that control skeletal muscle activity such as walking, breathing, speaking and swallowing.”

Patrick’s wife praised his positive energy that has left a lasting impression on those around him. “It has been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of coming into contact with him, not just in the last few years of his illness, but in every day of his life. He lived a life as full as any human being can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laugh. A titan of a man with red hair.”

She concluded the caption: “We are so grateful for everyone who has supported us over the years.

“Mick loved this quote from Brendan Behan and it feels appropriate now: ‘The most important things you can have in the world are to have something to eat, something to drink, and someone to love you.’ So don’t think about it too much. Eat. Drink. Love. Naomi – Mick’s wife.”
