Zendaya has opened up about her past fashion style!
In an interview with Fashion, The drama actress revealed she was a kid experimenting with bold looks inspired by the 2000s Disney Channel movie.
Zendaya admitted that her parents gave her the space to express herself through clothes and revealed that The Cheetah Girls had a major influence on her early fashion sense.
She said: “When I was old enough to decide what I wanted to wear, they just let me dress myself, which was cool.”
He added, “So I wasn’t that kid who had the perfect matching outfit to go to school. I just chose what I wanted from kindergarten to first grade.”
The actress further noted, “Thankfully not all of my awkward outfits are documented,” before adding, “The Cheetah Girls were a big deal, so I wore a lot of leopard print — that’s not cheetah print, but I didn’t know the difference.”
The 2003 film followed four pop stars, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, Reven-Symone, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams, whose vibrant outfits and animal prints left a lasting impression on young viewers.
Reflecting on her journey, Zendaya said: “I think exploration is so important – it’s important to go through tough phases; to look back at the things you wore when you were a teenager and think, ‘Oh my God, what was I thinking?'”
“Very few people are chic all their lives. It’s something that your taste and your personal preference develops as you get older,” she added.
