Laverne Cox has finally shared her working experience with Keanu Reeves in the new film, Result.
Speak with People magazine at the New York City premiere of the dark comedy, the 53-year-old actress revealed that Keanu was “focused” on set.
“Keanu is focused, and Keanu is intense and has a song on every take,” Laverne said.
“But once his reporting is done, he gets a little colder and talks more. But he’s chill and very normal – as normal as you can be when you’re an international superstar,” she continued. “But very cold, modest and almost shy, which makes you want him even more.”
“But I was very appropriate on set – I didn’t flirt,” added the Ugly star.
Laverne further revealed why she initially wasn’t sure she wanted to make the film.
“[I received] an email with a personal note from Jonah about my work and how he really wanted me for this character, Virginia. And it was so sweet. And I said, ‘Oh, this is beautiful.’ And then I thought, ‘Let’s read the script,'” the actress recalls.
“And the script was so smart, so funny, so insightful. So insightful what Virginia gets to say — it started off as a five-page monologue that she has, which is one of the most prescient, smartest things I’ve gotten to say as a character on screen. And I thought, ‘Okay, I have to do this,'” she continued.
“And then Keanu Reeves, honestly, [Jonah] I could have just led with Keanu Reeves and I would have said, ‘I’m in. I’m in,'” Laverne added.
