Phil Collins reveals the fate of his career amid serious health problems

Phil Collins has given a health update and admitted he has no plans to perform again.

The former Genesis frontman, now 74 years old, has stayed out of the public eye since multiple health issues forced him to give up his music career.

He recently underwent five knee surgeries and also developed kidney complications.

During Friday’s episode of BBC breakfast, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt returned to our TV screens as they presented the day’s biggest stories from Britain and beyond.

Early in the programme, the presenting couple announced that the hitmaker sat down with one of their colleagues to give a health update and future plans, four years after they stopped performing, the Mirror reports.

The singer, who has shifted more than 100 million records worldwide, appeared on the show in a pre-recorded interview with culture reporter Charlotte Gallagher.

During a conversation with Charlotte, he discussed his knee problems but said he’s “healthier than he’s been in a while.”

Phil continued: “The last eighteen months have been fine, but not so good before that. Everything health-wise caught up with me at the same time. Whatever could go wrong, did go wrong, but everything is fine now.”

“I had a problem with my knee, I had that for a while, but I played through it, toured through it. But I ended up having to have knee surgery, and I had to have it five or five times because the knee kept getting infected or breaking down, so I was inactive for a long time,” the star said while talking about his health and how it affected him.
