Kim Kardashian took to Instagram on Thursday to express her relief after the execution of a death row inmate in Tennessee was halted.
“God intervened,” she wrote on her Instagram Story as she shared the news that the inmate avoided execution due to complications from administering a lethal injection.
Tony Carruthers Carruthers was convicted in 1994 of kidnapping and murdering three people in Memphis.
His execution was halted when medical staff failed to find a suitable vein.
After Tennessee Governor Bill Lee granted him a one-year reprieve, Kim Kardashian thanked people for taking the time to call the governor’s office. “I truly believe the pressure from all of us helped,” she wrote.
She called the botched procedure absolute torture and urged DNA and fingerprint testing for evidence she said could prove Carruthers’ innocence.
