Aimee Lou Wood is set up in a new chapter of her career with her first TV writing project, Film club.
The actress, who is loved because of her iconic role in Sex educationThe show wrote with her friend Ralph Davies and also played the leading role.
In the story, Aimee Evie, a woman trying to rebuild her life, plays after a crisis in mental health care. Every Friday evening she organizes a movie evening in her garage with her best friend Noa, decorating the place to match every movie.
But when Noa gets a new job and plans to leave, Evie is forced to face and learn to move forward her fears.
Suranne Jones plays as Evie’s mother, Suz, a warm and protective mother who does her best to help her daughter while fighting her own worries.
Aimee said, however, that she wrote the character with Suranne in mind, and called it “magical” to see her bring the words to life.
On the other hand, Suranne praised Aimee and said it was “so beautiful” and full of heart.
The Take them! Actress also shared that writing her own show felt “raw and vulnerable”, but also deeply worthwhile, because she also opened her own journey with ADHD and autism, which inspired parts of the story.
