Amanda Seyfried has explained why she almost talked herself out of it Ann Lee’s will role.

In a new confessional with The Guardianthe actress has reflected on the moment she accepted the project, and her initial hesitation related to it.

The film’s director, Mona Fastvold, and the actress recalled the time when Seyfried was given the Ann Lee script in addition to the lead role.

According to Fastvold, the actress’s first instinct was to be confident.

“I know the way in,” Seyfried told the director at the time.

“You did say that,” Fastvold said, beaming proudly at her star.

“But you also said, ‘Maybe you should cast someone British. Maybe you shouldn’t trust me.’ You had all these excuses. It was kind of friendly, like you wanted what was best for me and the movie,” the director added.

Sharing what made her accept the offer, she said, “I was committed to Ann’s unadulterated passion and dedication.”

“I can understand how someone could be brought to their knees like that, and how wonderful and attractive that is to people who need something to believe in,” she concluded.
