Patrick Schwarzenegger on surviving Hollywood’s ups and downs

Patrick Schwarzenegger talks about what keeps him grounded in Hollywood.

Patrick Schwarzenegger says his faith has helped him cope with the ups and downs of building an acting career.

Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival, Patrick said the film industry is unpredictable, but faith helps him stay steadfast no matter what stage his career is at.

“I am here on this earth for a greater purpose and a greater meaning than just acting. The film industry is a roller coaster. I have seen it firsthand with my own family members, with friends. What really matters is that if you are going up or down, whichever way you go, your faith is still there,” he shared. Variety.

The White Lotus actor, 32, said prayer keeps him grounded and reminds him that his life has a bigger purpose than just acting.

He also said that he and his wife, model Abby Champion, pray together every day, which he finds soothing and meaningful.

“My prayers are something that has helped me every day of my life. It’s something that helps me and my wife. We do it together. I think there was a crazy situation where a husband and wife who pray together are 67 percent less likely to divorce or separate.”

He continued, “I don’t want to be the person who tells everyone to go pray every day and everything will be fine, but it is something that is central to my faith and gratitude… It’s a refreshing moment for me in my day.”

Patrick added that prayer helps him stay focused on gratitude, even though he doesn’t claim it magically solves everything.

He also criticized that he was getting roles because of his famous last name. Patrick called the speculation frustrating, noting that he has spent more than a decade training, auditioning and dealing with rejection.

Although there are times when he wishes he didn’t have his last name, he says he wouldn’t trade his life or family and is grateful for the values his parents instilled in him.
