Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly discuss bipolar disorder

Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly recently opened up about their mental health struggles with dark humor.

The longtime friends, who have known each other for more than eight years, are reunited on Davidson’s new Netflix video podcast, The Pete Davidson Show.

The show, which premiered from the comedian’s garage, featured a discussion about living with bipolar disorder, addiction and recovery. According to Peoplethe conversation turned to how closely their emotional highs and lows seem to align.

MGK, 35, whose real name is Colson Baker, noted that their bipolar disorder seems to be “synchronized” and that when one of them is having a manic episode, the other tends to remain calm.

Davidson, 32, responded with a dark quip, joking that the dynamic works well for their so-called “suicide pact,” which MGK agreed it balances them out.

Davidson then added that without that back and forth, they “would definitely be dead.” The couple also reflected on their early years and admitted that they once believed they would not live long.

Davidson said he is impressed that they have both managed to “keep it going” despite addiction and mental health issues. He acknowledged that sobriety hasn’t been easy, but said they have learned to manage their struggles more effectively.

Both men have spoken publicly about rehabilitation in the past. Davidson has entered treatment multiple times since 2023, while MGK revealed in 2024 that he had been sober for almost a year, crediting then-fiancée Megan Fox for her support in withdrawal.

The episode also ventured into lighter territory, including a story about the duo attending the Golden Globes together in 2019, which they joked could be the reason they were never invited back.

During the conversation, Davidson talked about how important their friendship has been and called MGK the only person who truly understands what he’s going through.
