Olivia Dean became emotional on Sunday when she won the first Grammy of her career.
The 26-year-old singer was honored with the Best New Artist trophy for her breakthrough album, Art of lovingduring the Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 1.
Olivia couldn’t hold back the tears as she received the award from Chappell Roan.
She started her emotional speech by saying: “I never thought I’d be standing here, let alone nominated, so thank you so much.”
The Easy to love hitmaker further said, “So thank you so much. I just want to say that an artist is truly nothing without their team. Emily, my best friend, my manager, we’ve been doing this for ten years.”
“So this is for you too, my family,” Olivia continued. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m here as the granddaughter of an immigrant. I wouldn’t be here… I am a product of courage and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.
Concluding her speech, the Man I need singer said, “So yeah, we’re nothing without each other.”
Olivia won the award in the Best New Artist category, beating out seven strong contenders including Katseye, The Marías, Sombr, Alex Warren, Addison Rae, Lola Young and Leon Thomas.
