The Minnesota Wild extended their winning streak Monday night with an overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens, thanks to a clutch performance from Kirill Kaprizov.
Kaprizov scored his second goal of the game on a power play at 3:38 of overtime, lifting the Wild to a 4-3 victory over Xcel Energy Center.
Minnesota earned the advantage after Phillip Danault was called for hooking Kaprizov in front of the net.
Kaprizov took a pass from Quinn Hughes and fired a shot from the high slot past Jakub Dobes for his 32nd goal of the season.
Joel Eriksson Ek and Brock Faber also scored for Minnesota, while Hughes recorded three assists to reach 50 points on the season.
Goaltender Filip Gustavson finished with 17 saves as the Wild won their fourth straight game.
Faber tied the game at 3-3 at 7:05 of the third period, pounced on a loose puck along the right sideline and beat Dobes with a quick shot.
Montreal built momentum after trailing 2-0 early.
Brendan Gallagher got the Canadiens on the board late in the first period, and Ivan Demidov tied the game with 17 seconds left in the second.
Kirby Dach then gave Montreal a brief lead just 12 seconds into the third period after finishing a feed from Nick Suzuki.
Eriksson Ek opened the scoring 38 seconds into the match, and Kaprizov made it 2-0 later in the first period by tapping in a pass from Hughes.
Minnesota will next visit Nashville, while Montreal heads to Winnipeg to close out play before the Olympic break.
