JK Rowling is setting the record straight after speculation links her to an invitation to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to attend the opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.
In recently released documents from the Epstein files, there was an invitation to a disgraced financier that caught the attention of the astute observer, especially since he had been convicted at the time.
In the wake of rumors that Rowling had invited him, the author himself addresses the issue, saying: “This is beyond foolish. Neither I nor anyone on my team has ever met, communicated with or invited Jeffrey Epstein.”
A look at the details reveals that it was actually the play’s producer, Colin Callender, who sent the invitation after Epstein’s associate Peggy Siegel asked him if a “very important friend wanted to come see the show.”
According to Termthe head of Playground Entertainment confirmed that he did not know who the friend was.
Ultimately, the documents revealed that Epstein was unable to enter the Broadway show because his name was not on the guest list, preventing him from attending the opening.
