Marvel star Pom Klementieff recalls offer to work in her dream industry

Pom Klementieff Remembers the ‘Mi Amor’ Script During the Reshoot of ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’

Pom Klementieff is originally a French actress. But for more than ten years she has been starring in various projects in Hollywood.

Her credits include high-budget films such as playing Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy. Similarly, she recalls working on another star-studded film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

She was re-filming her scenes in the suspense thriller when the offer came: a return to her original roots (French cinema) as a leading star.

It was Mi Amor, directed by Guillaume Nicloux, where Klementieff played Romy, a traveling disc jockey, alongside Benoît Magimel in the backdrop of the Canary Islands.

She accepted the offer. Now that the film is being screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival, she says: “When I moved to the US, I started making American films and kept making them.

“I had forgotten that French part of me, which is of course a big part of me. So it was wonderful to return to a French film, and to do it with such a talented director who I have admired for years.”

As she stars in Mi Amor, Klementieff says, “It was also interesting playing the lead. You get to explore so many facets of the character and really dance with the idea of the character.”

The film’s synopsis reads: “A French DJ on tour in the Canary Islands must navigate a web of silence and deceit from locals and officials when her best friend disappears, forcing her to take the investigation into her own hands.”

Mi Amor debuts in French theaters on May 6.
