Melissa Joan Hart revealed the biggest downside of becoming a child actor.
In a recent interview with PeopleMelissa, who rose to fame at the age of 15 after landing the lead role of Clarissa Darling From Nickelodeon Teen sitcom from the nineties Clarissa explains it allshared her mixed feelings about being a child actor.
Not only did she reflect on how growing up on TV taught her independence and discipline, but she also admitted that it limited her social exposure and development.
“I think it gave me a good work ethic. I think it helped me grow up quickly, learn some things about myself in the world, take care of myself, but also in that way it stunted my growth in other ways, socially,” she told the outlet.
Despite the social challenges she faced growing up, the actress credited her parents with ensuring that she still had a normal childhood away from the spotlight.
“I had an almost normal childhood, even though I had been acting since I was four. So I don’t regret anything,” she said.
“I think my family did really well… I was in Girl Scouts and we would go on family ski trips and stuff like that. So there was a lot of normal in this weird, crazy world,” she continued.
Nevertheless, the 1990s teen icon, who played the role of Sabrina Spellman in Sabrina the teenage witchtalked about her fun experience studying as an actress, explaining that being taught on set never felt lonely.
“I went to my friend’s prom. It wasn’t my prom, but I got to go to a prom and witness it. So I had a few moments,” she added.
