Kate Hudson reveals why she’s stepping away from rom-com roles

Kate Hudson shares what roles she has her eye on in the future after winning an Oscar nod for her performance in the new film Song sung blue.

The 46-year-old actress, known for her famous rom-com roles in How to lose a man in 10 days And Bride warsmade her priorities clear for the upcoming film genre in which she would star.

She told The Hollywood reporter“It was clear that the industry wanted to hire me there and my goal, my hope, was to make the best versions of that.”

Hudson further explained, “I started saying, ‘I really want to do something different.’ And I think when you really become famous with that genre, it’s hard for certain filmmakers to see you in anything other than what we look at.”

“Things like, ‘Well, transforming is not what she does,’ when in fact I enjoy doing that.”

The actress further confessed that she took on a few rom-com roles because she was offered “a lot of money” and was “a single mother.”

She previously shared similar sentiments during a conversation with Entertainment weekly in December: “I think I’ve learned over the years that I love comedy. I love a good rom-com, but it’s hard to make a good one, so you have to say no a lot.”

“I really just wanted to work with really interesting filmmakers and make different choices. It makes me happy,” Hudson shared, adding, “Some of my favorite roles that I’ve played, not many people have seen them, but they’ve been my favorite experiences, like Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon.”
