Robert Pattinson says fans confused him with Edward after ‘Twilight’

Robert Pattinson rose to prominence early on. He was 22 when he became a breakout star after starring in Twilight. However, with fame also came its drawbacks.

“I really enjoyed making the films, but there was also such a huge marketing push behind it. I didn’t want my personal identity to get caught up in that, so I tried to bring my individuality out a little bit, and that stuck with me,” he says. Interview magazine.

He talks about people confusing him with Edward, noting: “It was also interesting to become famous for playing a role – people thought I was that character at first.”

However, Pattison adds that he “didn’t put much stock in that identity because it wasn’t my identity to begin with.”

“It’s interesting to use the public perception of you as part of your character development, because you say, ‘I assume at least a few people in the audience will expect this,’ so you can make it more dramatic.”
