Eric Dane felt extreme emotions when ALS kept him from his daughters.
The famous American actor, who became famous with his portrayal of Dr. Enter Mark Sloan Grey’s anatomy and Cal Jacobs in it Euphoriawas diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Ten months after his diagnosis, Dane passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the age of 53.
Referring to his fatal illness in his June 2025 interview with ABC Newshe said, “I don’t think this is the end of my story. I just don’t feel in my heart that this is the end for me.”
“I fight as much as I can. There is so much I have no control over,” says the Marley & I the star joked.
It is striking that the father of two children tried to live with a positive approach after his ALS diagnosis; however, it sometimes made him furious.
He said: “I’m angry because my father was taken from me when I was young, and now there’s a good chance I’ll be taken from my girls while they’re still very young. Ultimately, all I want to do is spend time with my family and work a bit if I can.”
It is pertinent to mention that Dane, whose father, William Melvin, died by suicide when he was just seven years old, is survived by his two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, and his wife Rebecca Gayheart.
