Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the father of the late musical legend Selena Quintanilla, has died. He was 86.
His son, AB Quintanilla III, announced his news of his death on social media, saying: “It is with a heavy heart to let you know that my father passed away today.”
The late figure, who was a singer and songwriter himself and started making music at a young age, was a guiding force in shaping his superstar daughter’s career.
Back to Abraham: his music career started with the group Dinos, but he had to leave the group to focus on his family.
In the midst of this, the late singer recognized her daughter’s vocal talent, which led him to form a family band called Selena y Los Dinos.
Under his leadership, the band enjoyed success and became a prominent name in Tejano music, from where they first got their start.
However, Abraham’s life came to a standstill when her youngest child, Selena, was shot by Yolanda Saldívar, an ex-president of Selena’s fan club and manager of her boutiques.
After her shocking death, a film is released in her honor, titled Selenastarring Jennifer Lopez, was made.
In the film, Abraham served as executive producer and, after the musician’s tragedy, became a protector of her legacy in arts and culture.
Moreover, Netflix has also released a documentary on Selena Quintanilla titled Selena and Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy.
