Alec Baldwin and his younger brother Stephen were involved in a terrifying car crash in East Hampton, New York, but the brothers are safe.
The 30-rock star, 67, shared the news on Instagram on October 13, reassuring fans that no one was injured after accidentally hitting his head into a tree.
“This morning I was in a car accident,” Alec said in a video on his Instagram. “I’m doing well.” He went on to explain that he was behind the wheel of his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s Range Rover when the accident happened.
According to Alec, he was suddenly cut off by a large garbage truck “the size of a whale” while driving through an East Hampton neighborhood.
“To avoid hitting him,” he said, “I hit a big tree and crushed my wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car – I feel bad about that.”
Despite the damage, he assured everyone, “That’s all fine, and I’m fine, and my brother’s fine too. My wife’s car is pretty destroyed. Big tree, big big tree.”
Alec expressed his gratitude to the East Hampton Police Department for their quick response and said he plans to head to California soon to reunite with Hilaria and their children, Carmen, 11, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 4, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2.
“I’m going to LA to see my family,” he said. “I can’t wait. I’m going to California to get my family together, spend a few days there and then come home.”
He also took some time to support his wife following her recent departure from the country Dancing with the stars. “I’m still so proud of my wife, Hilaria. I love you more than anything, and I’m very proud of you,” Alec said warmly.
Stephen Baldwin, 59, also confirmed that he is doing well after the accident.
“Stephen is doing well and is grateful no one was injured,” his rep told E! News, adding that both brothers are “safe and sound.”
Photos and footage obtained by TMZ showed the Baldwins standing in the rain next to the damaged car and speaking to police officers at the scene.
The front of the Range Rover appeared to be badly dented by the impact.
Later in the day, Stephen was seen looking more cheerful as he posted an Instagram story from All American Hamburger Drive In in Massapequa, New York, where he ordered a burger, fries and a drink.
Although Hilaria’s car was badly damaged in the crash, both Alec and Stephen were unhurt, something they are clearly grateful for after a short event.
