Alexander Skarsgård had nothing to ‘tap into’ for his latest character of a purely good man Wicker.
Alexander, who is known for his dark and morally ambiguous roles Big little lies, succession, And The Northman, is new to playing a good character.
“I was quite intimidated when I read it, because I’m drawn to more conflicted characters with more internal turmoil and darkness,” he said during a question-and-answer session after the film’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Entertainment weekly.
He added, “And it was scary for me to play this kind-hearted, kind-hearted, sweet, morally righteous character. I’m not really comfortable with that.”
“I don’t have anything to respond to when it comes down to it, so it’s been a challenge as an actor,” he joked, causing the audience to laugh.

The wicker man’s character had to loosen up as his love story with the fisherman’s wife progressed, and that meant Alexander’s facial expressions had to become more and more vivid as the film progressed.
He explained, “I overdid everything. And that goes against your instincts as an actor. So I felt ridiculous, but it was just about trusting these guys and when they came up and said, ‘Can you just give us a little more eyebrow action?’ I say, ‘Okay.'”
