Todd Snider, known for his signature tune Okay dudedied at the age of 59.
Known for his blend of folk, country, rock and blues music genres, Snider breathed his last on Friday, November 14, while hospitalized after being diagnosed with walking pneumonia, according to a Facebook post shared by his friends and family.
Shortly after his death, tributes began pouring in. In addition to confirmations from his loved ones, his Facebook page and website also published statements reflecting on the unfortunate loss.
“Aimless, Inc. Corporate Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has left this world,” the caption of the social media post began.
Accompanied by a black and white photo of the late artist, the heartfelt message continued: “Always creating a rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket. Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.”
“He conveyed so much tenderness and sensitivity in his songs, and showed many of us how to look at the world through a different lens,” they enthused about the departed soul in the Saturday, November 15, post.
“We love you Todd, sail on old friend, we’ll see you again somewhere down the road. You’ll always be a force of nature,” they added before closing with some verses from Snider’s song: Like a force of nature.
