When Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Amy Poehler take the stage at an awards show, they leave the audience in stitches.
But now the pair are looking back at today’s awards shows, which they say have become more serious.
Appears on the Parks and Recreation star’s podcast Hang well podcast, Julie says: “You and I have done things a few times around awards shows – and when we compete against each other!”
“What I’ve discovered over the years is that it’s really good to focus on what to do when you win or lose. And Amy Poehler is a lot of fun coming up with bits,” she adds.
The Veep star adds in response, “I was always so grateful that you were up for it. Because there were certain people who didn’t want to do those things – and they won’t be named. But we did try a few things with other people, and they didn’t want to do it.”
Amy also acknowledges that awards shows now feel serious, unlike in the past when they were goofy. “I kind of like an awards show! Because it used to be fun. It used to be silly, and now it’s so serious.”
It’s worth noting that the duo presented several awards together at prestigious award shows, including the Oscars and Emmys.
