Anne Hathaway knows that balancing her career and personal life is nearly impossible as a mother of two.
The ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ star recently attended Harper’s Bazaar and opened up about balancing motherhood and her acting career, noting that she feels “very defeated” in that arena.
The 43-year-old actress, mother of two sons, Jack and Jonathan, told the publisher that before she became a mother, her focus was “uncompromising and uninterrupted,” but after children it’s a bit up and down.
“There used to be a focus that was really uncompromising and uninterrupted,” she says.
Hathaway went on to say, “And I just can’t tell you what life is like without kids anymore, but kids interrupt you all the time.”
She further noted, “My friends and I talk about it a lot, and we actually feel very defeated by the concept of balance.
“If the weight shifts one way, you have to bounce it up the other side, and we find that it winds us up instead of steadying us.”
So instead of balancing, Hathaway said, she and her friends adopted the concept of forgiveness.
“We say, ‘We’re trying to harmonize our lives,’” she added.
