The Ace Javelin world from Pakistan Arshad Nadeem booked his place in the men’s final of the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo on Wednesday, increasing the hope for a new stage finish.
The athlete qualified for the spear final with a 85.28m throw in his third and final attempt, after he had thrown 74.17m in the second and 76.99m in the first attempt.
He will now participate in some of the world’s best in the medal round on Thursday.

In the meantime, India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, a double Olympic medal winner, needed only one throw to make progress.
He knew the automatic qualification marking of 84.50 m with a first certificate competition of 84.85m at the National Stadium in Tokyo, which set the tone in group A.
The reigning Olympic gold medal winner of group B also qualified in style with an impressive 86.56 m Worp, which built on his record -breaking 92.97 m effort that gave him gold at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Chopra is currently ranked by World No. 2 and remains one of the best contenders. His personal record of 90.23m – also the Indian national record – was established earlier this year in the Doha Diamond League.
The German Julian Weber, the current world no. 1, recovered from a bad first attempt to register 87.21m and to book its place, while Dawid Wegner van Polen achieved a personal record of 85.67m.
The Indian Sachin Yadav closely missed the direct qualification with a strong 83.67m, finished sixth in group A and is now waiting for confirmation, depending on the results of group B.
Tokyo 2020 Silver medal winner Jakub Vadlejch (84.11m) and Olympic medal winner Keshorn Walcott (83.93m) also remain contrary.
A total of 12 athletes of the 37 will continue to the final – those who exceed the automatic qualification marking will continue directly, while the remaining slots are filled by the best versions.
During the last world championships in Budapest in 2023, Neeraj Chopra wrote history by becoming the first world champion of India in athletics with a throw of 88.17 million, while Arshad Nadeem claimed silver with 87.82 million.
The tables turned around at the Olympic Games in Paris, where Nadeem triumphed with gold, so Chopra settled with silver.
