Daisy Fuentes has joined the voices in support of Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl Half Time performance.
Former MTV host Daisy thinks Bad Bunny’s success is an example of the reward for “authenticity.”
“I was so happy for him,” she said People. “He is the example of what can happen when you are truly authentically yourself.”
She noted that the Puerto Rican superstar, whose selection has been criticized by some including President Donald Trump for performing in Spanish, “has not adjusted who he is, how he sings, what he says, what he wants to do.”
“He is just exactly who he is and how brilliant is that? Your authenticity will resonate with so many people. Whether you like his music or not, what he has done is admirable,” she added.
Fuentes understands the Mia position of the rapper when she was one of the first Latina hosts on MTV in the early 2000s.
The actress, born and raised in Cuba, moved to America with her parents in her youth.
‘I remember being quiet because I didn’t speak a word of English. I was thrown into a public school in Newark. The other kids who spoke Spanish didn’t really understand my Castilian accent,” she recalls.
“I kind of learned to imitate what they said, and that’s one of the reasons why, when I auditioned for MTV in Spanish, I was able to have such a neutral Spanish accent,” she added.
Bad Bunny will headline Super Bowl LX 2026. Others performing include Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile and Coco Jones.
