Barry Keoghan considers drastic decision because of ‘nasty’ haters

Barry Keoghan has opened up about the impact online bullying has had on him.

The 33 year old Peaky blinders star appeared on SiriusXM’s The morning mash-upwhere he reflected on the ‘nasty side’ of social media.

“I think I’ve removed myself from online, but I’m still a curious person who wants to move on and when I attend an event or go somewhere, you want to see how it’s received. And that’s not fun,” he explained in an audio clip.

“There’s a lot of hate online. There’s a lot of abuse of the way I look,” Keoghan added.

The Irish actor said he is shying away from the public eye due to vitriolic comments from trolls.

“I’m saying this because I’m being absolutely pure and honest with you: It’s going to be a problem,” he revealed.

“So yeah, I don’t have to hide because I’m hiding. I don’t have to go places because I don’t actually go places because of these things. But when that starts to leak into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen anymore,” says the Salt burn called star.

The father-of-one is also angry that his three-year-old son Brando will read harsh comments about him when he’s older.

“It’s disappointing for the fans, but it’s also disappointing that my son has to read all this when he gets older,” Keoghan said.

It is pertinent to mention that Keoghan deactivated his Instagram account in 2024 following speculations about his divorce from Sabrina Carpenter.

He went to

“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I wouldn’t normally respond to,” Barry Keoghan wrote in a lengthy statement at the time.
