The Florida Panthers held off the Boston Bruins 2-1 in their final Bruins-Panthers matchup, ending Boston’s four-game winning streak.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves, including 15 in the third period, to secure the win for Florida.
Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Bennett scored early as the Panthers built a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes.
“It was a good game, a lot of fun. Winning is fun and it’s great to be with the guys,” Bobrovsky told NHL.
“We had a lot of young faces, but they stepped up and did a great job. … They’re a good team, you know they’re not going away. It was going to be a battle. Just try to enjoy the moment, enjoy the moment.”
Fraser Minten pulled one back for Boston late in the first period, but the Bruins couldn’t find an equalizer despite late pressure.
Boston coach Marco Sturm was critical of his team’s performance: “We had no respect for our opponent tonight.”
“They had a lot of guys and we didn’t do our job. Shame on us today.”
Florida coach Paul Maurice praised his undermanned squad, saying, “Our guys played. They came out strong the last two games.”
