Brad Pitt is reportedly angry after Angelina Jolie’s recent comments in an interview.
After splitting in 2016, Pitt and Jolie remain embroiled in multiple legal battles. Although another court showdown is expected in the coming months, sources reveal that the rift between the former couple continues.
While promoting a new project, Jolie reflected on raising her children without a grandmother after the death of her own mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007.
According to Closer Magazine, insiders claim the comment struck a chord with Pitt, whose mother Jane Pitt died last summer at the age of 84.
The source said: “This feels deliberately cruel. It hits Brad so raw, he’s disgusted that she’s sunk so low. First of all, his mother just passed away last summer: it’s only been six months; he’s still grieving.”
“Angelina knows full well that he will hear her comments, so of course it feels like a conscious choice for him. When his mother was alive, Angelina made any relationship with the kids untenable for her. And Brad has always protected his mother, so the anger about that is still there, maybe even more so now that she’s gone,” the insider added.
It is pertinent to mention that before Jane Pitt’s death, it was reported that she had not seen her grandchildren for nine years. Sources at the time revealed that before Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce, she was part of the children’s lives and spent “a lot of time together.”
Now an insider revealed about Pitt: “He thinks it’s so sad, the way she’s closed the kids off from so many people. It’s not just him and his whole extended family, even her own father and brother are out of the picture.”
“Brad feels it’s beyond wrong and unhealthy and it breaks his heart that he hasn’t been able to do anything about it. His only hope is that the kids will eventually break away from this. He says if they do, he’ll be there waiting with open arms,” the tipster told the outlet.
However, from Jolie’s perspective, sources revealed that she meant “no harm.”
“It’s true that when she and Brad split up, his family didn’t see much of the kids anymore, but in Angie’s defense, they all live about 2,000 miles away and she’s hardly about to jump on a plane to break bread with her ex-in-laws.
“It was Brad’s responsibility to make sure his mother or whoever saw the kids when he had visitors, so if that didn’t happen often enough then that’s his responsibility,” the source revealed.
