Brad Pitt role George Clooney still can’t let go

George Clooney has revealed he is still annoyed that Brad Pitt beat him out for a 1990s film role.

The Hollywood stars were both on the cusp of movie stardom in the late 1980s and often auditioned for the same roles, but Pitt made the first impression after scoring a role in Thelma & Louise.

Clooney, who is close friends with Pitt, has now admitted he felt frustrated when he passed the final test for a role in Ridley Scott’s 1991 drama, starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis.

“So I was on TV,” he said The times. “I was making a good living, but then actors said, ‘Well, I’m a movie actor, I just happen to do TV. And I got the final test for a role on Thelma & Louise. And, motherfucker, Brad got it.’

Clooney, who recently starred in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kellysaid he wasn’t looking Thelma & Louise for years because he was annoyed.

“The role launched his film career,” the actor continued. “He did sitcoms and crap before, so when this was the thing that could have launched me? F***!”

According to Clooney, his Ocean Elf co-star Pitt still teases him about it.

“He gives me s***. But when I saw it, of course I thought: it had to be that guy.”

In the film, Pitt played JD, a charming drifter who briefly seduces Thelma (Davis) and later robs her. The actor recently admitted he felt stunned when he met the film’s leads, but said he “quickly got over it.”
