Britney Spears blasts ex Kevin Federline’s new memoir: ‘white lies’

Britney Spears on ex-Kevin Federline’s new memoir ‘You Thought You Knew’

Britney Spears is speaking out after her ex-husband Kevin Federline made claims about their past in his upcoming memoir: You thought you knew.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday night, the pop icon pushed back against Federline’s accusations, citing what she described as years of emotional strain.

“The ex-husband’s continued gaslighting is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” Spears wrote, referring to both the excerpts from his book and his recent interviews.

Spears, 43, expressed her deep frustration over the situation with her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with Federline.

“I always begged and screamed to have a life with my boys,” she said.

“Relationships with teenage boys are complex. I felt demoralized by this situation and always asked and almost begged for them to be part of my life.”

The Grammy winner also claimed that her children have “always witnessed the disrespect their own father showed for me,” adding that they need to “take responsibility for themselves” as adults.

Spears claimed that one of her sons had only seen her for “45 minutes” in the past year, while the other had “had four visits in the past five years.”

“I have pride too,” she continued.

“From now on, I’ll let them know when I’m available. Trust me, those white lies in that book, they’re going straight to the bank and I’m the only one really getting hurt here.”

Despite her anger over Federline’s memoir, Spears ended her message with a note of love for her sons.

“I will always love them and if you really know me you won’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health and drinking,” she wrote.

“I’m actually a pretty intelligent woman who has spent the last five years trying to live a holy and private life. I’m speaking about this because I’ve had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

Federline, 47, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, will be released You thought you knew on October 21. In the run-up to the book’s release, he has shared snippets about their wedding, something that Spears says clearly crossed a line.

The singer’s post comes as another public chapter unfolds between the former couple, with Spears making it clear she wants her side of the story to be heard, on her own terms.
