“Evil Dead” star Bruce Campbell said he is undergoing treatment for cancer, without revealing what type of cancer he has been diagnosed with.

The 67-year-old actor said in his statement: “Hello folks, nowadays when someone has a health problem it is called a ‘probability’ so let’s continue with that – I have one of those. It is also called a form of cancer that is ‘treatable’ and not ‘curable’.” I apologize if that comes as a shock; that was the case for me too.
More than two million people viewed his X-post within hours of it being shared, and hundreds of people sent prayers in response.
The actor continued his statement: “The good news is that I’m not going to go into further details. I’m posting this because a few things will have to change professionally: looks and disadvantages and work in general will have to take a back seat to the treatment. My plan is to get as good as I can over the summer so I can tour with my new movie ‘Ernie & Emma’ this fall.”
“There are several cons this summer that I have to cancel. Big regret on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand in hand. That’s about it. I’m not trying to solicit sympathy – or advice -. I just want to be aware of this information in case any false information comes out (which it will). Don’t be afraid, I’m a tough old bastard and I have great support, so I expect to be around for a while. As always, you are the best. fans in the world and me hope to see you soon!” Campbell wrote, concluding with “Much love.”
The actor shared the statement three days after posting an article about his upcoming film “Ernie & Emma,” a road trip comedy about a widowed pear seller’s journey to scatter his wife’s ashes.
The film was produced by Campbell and his wife Ida Gearon, who convinced him to make a film close to home, he said.
The article is titled, “I’m Thinking About Dying”: Horror Movie Icon Grows Up in New Oregon-Made Movie.”
He first played Ash Williams in Sam Raimi’s ‘The Evil Dead’ in 1981, then returned for ‘Evil Dead II’. Campbell serves as executive producer on the upcoming “Evil Dead Burn,” which hits theaters in June.
Bruce Campbell has two children, Rebecca and Andy, from his first marriage to Christine Deveau.
