The art of New York holds a special place in Catherine Zeta-Jones’ heart.
In an exclusive conversation with Peoplethe Oscar-winning actress opened up about whether leaving Hollywood was “detrimental” to her acting career to live in New York City.
“It’s funny,” the 56-year-old actress told the outlet. “I’ve lived on the East Coast and been with Michael for many, many years, and it’s interesting whether this has been detrimental to my career.”
“I never really know because I’ve never been to LA chatting,” she admitted.
Catherine revealed that her and her family’s social life hardly revolves around Hollywood.
“I actually spend more time with New York business people, Wall Street people and art people,” she noted.
“Our friends and our people that we encounter are different than I would be if I were in LA. And that’s not at all detrimental to LA and the people who live there; I just weave around a few different roundabouts here in the city.”
And the city’s art is what also attracts her: “I used to go there often and loved looking at people’s art in their fancy homes in the Hamptons.”
Catherine is currently also exploring whether she wants to be ‘an eclectic collector’.
“I kind of dipped my toes into that world.”
When the family went on holiday to Antarctica, Catherine “bought nothing there” but “brought back $60,000 worth of Leica cameras.”
“Speaking of art, I mean, if you’re just in that environment, you look around and it’s just the most amazing natural art,” she added.
