Charli XCX went into the studio to make music for the Wuthering Heights adaptation with a few clear ideas after Emerald Fennell approached her.
The 33-year-old pop icon took to Instagram on Thursday, November 6, and shared the inspiration behind her soundtrack, which went viral on social media.
The 360 hitmaker shared a teaser on her Instagram for the title track, Houseand explained the thought process in her stories.
The Grammy winner noted that she was taken in by the ‘world’ [Fennell] was creating” and “After being so deep into my last album [Brat]I was excited to escape into something completely new, completely the opposite.”
The Apples singer continued, “When I think about it Wuthering HeightsI think about many things. I think of passion and pain. I think of the Moors, I think of the mud and the cold. I think of determination and courage.”

She then wrote about connecting with John Cale, who collaborated with her on the song: “I feel so lucky to have been able to work with John on this song,” Charli XCX wrote.
The song, Housewill be released on Monday, months ahead of the film’s February release.
