“Unfortunately, despite the goodwill and sincerity of China, the EU has urged to take its own way, to take restrictive measures and build new protectionist barriers,” said the Ministry of Trade in a separate statement on Sunday.
“That is why China has no choice but to take mutual restrictive measures.”
The EU delegation office in Beijing did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
China will also limit the import of medical devices from other countries that contain EU-made components that are worth more than 50% of the contract value, according to the Ministry of Finance. The measures will take effect on Sunday.
The Ministry of Trade said that products from European companies in China have not been affected.
The second in the world and the third largest economies will keep a top in China in China later in July.
