Captain America takes on his most challenging role yet: fatherhood.
Chris Evans and his wife Alba Baptista quietly welcomed their first child together this weekend, two years after tying the knot. TMZ reported on Tuesday. Their baby was born in Massachusetts on Saturday, October 25, although the outlet did not share the newborn’s name or gender.
The news follows months of speculation the couple was expecting, which arose when Baptista’s father, Luiz, commented on a fan page’s Father’s Day post earlier this year. “Thank you very much, dear Chris. Your turn is coming!” he wrote.
The Marvel star, 44, and the Portuguese actress, 28, tied the knot in a private ceremony in September 2023 after more than a year of dating. The new parents are fresh off their second wedding anniversary.
Despite their sixteen-year age difference, the two share a strong bond and have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye. That’s why the recent happy news comes as a total surprise as fans weren’t even aware that they were expecting their first child.
However, Evans previously shared that becoming a father was something he was looking forward to. “I hope so,” he said Access to Hollywood in 2024. “The title of father is exciting.”
In March last year, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles.
