Chris Hemsworth opened up about how his father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis made him understand the “fragility” of life.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Thor star revealed that Craig has slowed down in his life following the health scare.
My urge to race forward has really been curbed,” Chris noted. “I’m getting better at relaxing, making more informed decisions and working with people I admire.”
The thought: ‘My father will not stay here forever’ has made him ‘more aware of the fragility of things’ and made him cherish every moment.
It even changed his parenting. “My kids are now 11 and 13. Those nights of fighting to sleep in our bed suddenly don’t happen anymore,” says Chris, who shares three children with his wife Elsa Pataky.
Now Chris is revising his definition of success.
The Crime 101 star explained, “I always thought if I got nominated for something, I would feel good about myself. Or maybe I would feel accomplished if I had the biggest movie of all time, or launched a new franchise.”
“It’s absurd. My self-worth doesn’t depend on all those external things anymore – although I still have to remind myself of it,” he added.
