Chris Pratt reflects on being offered ‘douche’ roles early in career

Chris Pratt reflects on being offered “shower” roles early in his career

Chris Pratt looks back on his early career days!

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star reflected on a character he was stuck with during his early acting days in a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly.

Pratt said he often played the role of a boyfriend “you don’t want to end up with,” like the one he played opposite Anne Hathaway in 2009’s Bride Wars.

The character named Fletcher was a controlling boyfriend who hated his girlfriend’s outspokenness.

“This is the role that has been offered to me many times from the beginning of my career until now,” reflected Pratt.

He continued, “Which is the guy you don’t want to end up with the girl, and kind of the shower character.”

“I’ve been offered that many times. I ate at ‘d********* boyfriend’ for a long time,” Pratt explained.

The ‘Jurassic World’ actor played a similar role in ‘Take Me Home Tonight and What’s Your Number?’ from 2011, 2010’s ’10 Years’, 2008’s ‘Wanted’ and his 2009 sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation’, which ran for seven seasons.

In “Parks and Recreation,” however, Pratt’s role as slacker boyfriend becomes less of a loser.

He said of the role: ‘It was like cat and dog when they got married. He’s like a golden retriever – eternal optimist – and she’s like aloof, and her character so loved irony and the comedy that comes from irony that she picked the least likely person to end up with, and then fell in love. And it’s almost as if that act itself is an act of rebellious irony. And I’ve always loved that.’
