Chris Redd finally broke the silence about dating his former’s ex-wife Saturday evening live co-star Kenan Thompson.
On Tuesday, the 40-year-old comedian took to his Instagram account and posted a lengthy video revealing how he fell in love with his friend’s ex-wife, Christina Evangeline.
“I wanted to discuss something that’s been around for a long time, about four or five years now, but you know what, I’ve never discussed it,” Chris said.
“I know a lot of people are talking about me dating Kenan Thompson’s ex-wife [Christina Evangeline] and how that came about. I’ll just tell you straight,” the stand-up comedian continued, before adding that there was “no plan.”
“Everything everyone said, I saw it, and the bottom line is, I’m not the type of person to make plans with a person. I’m not the type of person to even date someone that one of my friends has been in a relationship with. This is a very unique, nuanced thing that happened,” added Chris, who worked with Kenan on SNL for five seasons.
The actor further revealed that he started falling for Christina when she was there for him during a difficult time in his life.
“The bottom line is, I had some pill problems on the show. I had some pill problems, nothing crazy, but crazy for my black a–. I even sold some to people, some of my castmates,” Chris said.
“She helped me with my therapy journey and she told me things about her life that made me look at a lot of the people involved differently. And during that time we fell in love,” he said.
Chris added that the situation made him “feel bad from the start, like an emotional double-edged sword.”
“I really loved everything me and Kenan did. I really appreciated every bit of work we did. I think we were a great team. And I hate to do something to someone that I know would hurt them,” he said.
