Christina Applegate wants to be a ‘lesson’ for others in abusive relationships

Christina Applegate wants others to learn from her mistakes when it comes to healing addicts.

Applegate had a long-term, physically abusive relationship that began in her teens after a difficult childhood.

“My mother always said, ‘I’ve never met a junkie I didn’t like.’ And that’s how I rolled,” Applegate, 54, said People.

“I was never with anyone who had a real job. I was always with these broken birds that I wanted to fix. I always thought I could do it,” she confessed.

‘And you know what? That’s not possible. It’s like I can be a lesson to someone,” she noted.

Recalling her childhood when she was raised by a single mother, Nancy Priddy, the Married… with children star said: “I think I had the worst situation from age 3 to 7, but things like that happened in all our homes. Single mothers, men coming in and out, drugs. It’s always nice to see your mother crying on the floor and not being taken care of.”

Christina Applegate explores her upbringing, abusive relationships, her battle with breast cancer and Multiple Schlerosis in her upcoming memoir, You with the sad eyes.
