It has been rumored for a while that Cillian Murphy will play Lord Voldemort in the upcoming film Harry Potter TV program.
Chris Columbus, director of the first two Potter films, also previously endorsed him as a popular fancast choice from He Who Shall Not Be Named, saying: “Cillian is one of my favorite actors, so that would be great,” said Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Potter films.
It would have become so viral that the Peaky blinders star had to set the record straight.
In an interview with The Times, he mocked the rumors, saying, “I’m categorically not,” adding, “Can you make that the headline?”
Speculation became rife because the series’ creators had not yet cast the role for the show, which was previously played by Ralph Fiennes.
In other news, Murphy hyped his final farewell to his role as Tommy Shelby as he appeared on the red carpet of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man world premiere in Birmingham.
In a question about how he developed his character after World War I to 1940, he said: “Oh my God, I don’t know if I can give you that in a sound bite. You’d have to watch 36 hours of TV. It’s quite, very complex, you know.”
“I’m extremely proud of the work, I’m extremely proud of the show, I’m extremely proud of the fans,” he said.
The Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man rolls out in select theaters on March 6 and lands on Netflix on March 20.
