For Cillian Murphy, his most important achievement in life is having a family.
In a recent conversation with The Times of Londonthe Peaky Blinder actor talked about his family.
The actor, who will soon turn 50, revealed that as he reaches middle age, he wants to be “a reasonable father and husband.”
“Middle age is very interesting,” Murphy noted.
“You’ve had children and been successful and then you get to a certain age and you think, ‘Okay, this is the first time I have less time left than I have so far on this planet.’”
He went on to say, “I’m turning 50 in a few months, so I’m thinking, ‘Well, what do I do now?’ Hopefully I can just be a reasonable father and husband, and then, when the time comes, still take the job incredibly seriously.”
For those unfamiliar, Murphy tied the knot with his wife Yvonne McGuinness in 2004 and the couple has welcomed two sons.
“By the time I get back on set, it will have been 15 months since I last worked,” Murphy added jokingly. “I’m usually at home walking the dog.”
While commenting on aging and his famous role of Tommy Shelby in Peaky blindershe said: “I was 35 when we started and 48 when we made the movie,” he noted.
“I’ve played Tommy for well over a quarter of my life, from a young man to middle-aged teeth. It’s incredibly rewarding to see everyone around you grow older.”
