Dave Grohl, the frontman and star of Foo Fighters, revealed he had “turned it all off” after admitting he fathered a child outside his marriage to Jordyn Blum.
The former Nirvana drummer announced on social media in September 2024 that he had become a father to the girl, saying he did “everything I could” to “regain the trust of his wife Jordyn Blum and their family and earn their forgiveness.”
Now, in an interview with The Guardian, Grohl said, “I had to turn everything off. One of those things was my concern for what other people think.”
“Being able to shut down that part of yourself can sometimes be a very healthy exercise in thinking about life within your immediate environment. Don’t allow all of that to take hold of you so much that it can completely destroy yourself,” he added.
The musician, who also appeared on albums by Stone Age queens And Those crooked vultures, went on to say that songwriting was his way of dealing with all the criticism and attention the scandal brought.
He added: “I have to be very honest, writing songs and writing lyrics about these things is enough sometimes.”
The musician continued, “As far as having a deeper, longer conversation about them, I still reserve a lot of this for my own personal life, as impersonal and public as it may seem.
“But I think for many reasons I got to a place where I had to stop and sit with myself and reevaluate myself. It’s an ongoing process,” says the Eternally rocker further mentioned.
It is pertinent to mention that the Foo Fighters are about to release their twelfth studio album, Your favorite toys, April 2026.
Meanwhile, Dave Grohl has been married to director Jordyn Blum since 2003 and together they share daughters: Violet, Harper and Ophelia.
