David Beckham talks about the moment his children asked about the ‘extra’ privileges they would receive after his knighthood.
In November, the former footballer was honored with the title of “Sir” for his charity work in partnership with UNICEF and his sports services over a 20-year period in the British Empire.
King Charles made him a Knight of England at Windsor Castle, and David’s family gathered to celebrate the milestone. However, his estranged son Brooklyn was not there, amid family rift.
David’s other children, including Cruz, 21, Romeo, 23, and daughter Harper, 14, whom he shares with wife Victoria, expressed their hopes for benefits from his knighthood.
When his children asked if they would have “any more privileges,” David replied, “Absolutely not.”
The father-of-four revealed the one change knighthood has brought to his life in a recent chat with talkSPORT Drive.
He said, “The only thing that changed was my stationery that I send to people, thank you letters. That’s the only thing that really changed.”
David continued to say, “My kids turned to me and said, ‘Daddy, are we going to have any more privileges?’ I know I said that to them.
“I thought, ‘well, apart from the ones you already have, absolutely not,’” he joked.
David said: “It was one of the best… probably the best day of my life, you know, except of course when my kids were born and when I got married.”
