David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are facing financial turmoil.
The 50-year-old English former professional footballer is in no position to help his wife’s struggling fashion empire as the brand Victoriawhich launched in 2008, lost a significant amount of money, especially since they were spending over $90,000 a year on plants alone.
Trying to save her business, Victoria turned to her husband David, but instead put a strain on their marriage.
In her Netflix docuseries, Victoria Beckham Reflecting on their past money problems and her fixation on plants, David said, “For her to say, ‘We need some money, the business needs more money,’ was hard for both of us. Because I didn’t have the money to keep doing this, and ultimately I thought, ‘This can’t go on.'”
He added: “She loved plants. And it cost her £70,000 ($93,000) a year. And then there was someone who came and watered the plants for £15,000 ($19,000) a year, and that’s just the beginning!”
The president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF revealed that he had never experienced anything “as difficult as this to fix.”
“So I went to her, and I just decided to tell the truth, exactly as it is, and I didn’t know how she would react. I said, ‘Victoria, we have to change everything, restructure the company, and that will be painful,'” David recalls.
