Sean “Diddy” Combs sets the record straight after reports surfaced that he was caught drinking alcohol behind bars.
In a statement shared via his official
TMZ had reported a day earlier that Combs, who recently celebrated his 56th birthday behind bars, was accused of concocting an improvised alcoholic beverage at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey using sugar, Fanta and apples.
The newspaper also claimed that this had gotten him into “trouble with prison officials.” However, a prison representative told the publication that there was “no information” to support the rumor.
Combs’ spokesperson also said this Page six that the rapper has been “focused on adapting, working on himself and performing better every day” since his transfer to the facility last month.
“As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumors and exaggerated stories circulating during their time there – most of which are untrue,” the representative added. “We ask that people give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth with grace and purpose.”
Before his Oct. 3 sentencing, Combs told Judge Arun Subramanian that he had been “sober for the first time in 25 years.” He wrote, “I am proud to say that I am working harder than ever before… I thank God that I am stronger, wiser, pure, clear, and sober.”
The Bad Boy Records founder is serving a prison sentence of four years and two months and is scheduled for release on May 8, 2028.
