Doja Cat revealed her unusual way of dealing with paparazzi.
In a recent interview with Varietythe 30-year-old singer revealed that she sometimes “purposefully” dresses “ugly” while grocery shopping.
The “Paint the Town Red” singer expressed her desire to come out in public like normal people, and to do that, she dresses up “ugly” instead of telling paparazzi to “stop” or pay a store to close.
“It upsets me so much,” Doja told the outlet, because she couldn’t shop like regular people.
“Should I go up to someone and say, ‘Stop filming me,’ and start swearing at them? No, I’m not going to do that,” she continued.
“I don’t want to do that, I think I would rather do it in a creative way.”
Explaining her “creative ways,” she noted, “Sometimes I purposefully try to look ugly.”
“I make a game of it,” Doja added.
This came after she opened up about her mental health struggles following her borderline personality disorder.
“I learned from a very young age to pretend that I like things, to pretend that I’m happy, to pretend that I don’t like the things I do, to pretend that everything is fine,” Doja Cat said in a video posted to her TikTok account in March. ‘I’ll get it done. And it touched me, and I think it always does with people. I am now struggling with borderline disorder.’
I have been in therapy for years now and I am so relieved and so proud of myself. “I have made it this far and I still make mistakes,” she added.
