Dolly Parton is facing one of the toughest times of her career as persistent health issues force her to extend her bed rest.
Insiders told Radar Online that the country music icon struggled emotionally due to being left out of her demanding schedule.
The source said: “Dolly has never been the type to sit back and let other people take charge, so she really struggles with being sidelined.”
She adds, “She’s a real control freak and doesn’t feel like anything can go right without her touch, and she’s not that far off.”
“A lot of things went wrong during the time she was sick. Nothing big and catastrophic, but things she would never let happen under her watch,” the insider noted.
During her absence, several minor issues reportedly came to light, including controversy at Dollywood over a new soda policy that angered patrons. “Some newfangled soda machine in the park is recording every ounce of soda, and that caused a lot of anger.”
“It’s something that Dolly would never have approved if she had filled out the details beforehand,” an insider noted.
But now that Dolly Parton is taking some time off, she’s not being asked “to weigh in on all these so-called little decisions like she used to, and that does change things.”
On the other hand, the source revealed, “She has so many businesses that she has had to step back from. It has been very difficult for her and there is still no end date in sight.”
Dolly Parton’s battle with kidney stones and related infections also forced her to postpone her Las Vegas residency until September 2026.
