Aaron Carter was a contestant on season nine of Dancing with the stars in 2009, who died at the age of 34 as a result of a drug-related accidental drowning in November 2023.
During the 34th season of DWTS, Carter was remembered with a heartfelt tribute among many deceased artists. The tribute segment also spotlighted former judge Len Goodman.
Ezra Sosa and Rylee Arnold gave a moving performance during the segment for Lady Gaga’s Always remember us this way.
The images of the deceased were shown in the background in recognition of their contributions to the series.
The tribute included Jerry Springer, Cloris Leachman and many more. Judge Goodman’s photo appeared last, indicating his role as the show’s very first judge.
During the recording of reality series from 2006 House of Cartershis brother and sisters noticed substance use and decided to seek help from an expert.
Carter struggled with marijuana, Xanax and other substances from a young age. His twin sister Angel noted that seeking help at the time contributed to continued support for the family members who participated.
Previously, Carter opened up about his alcohol-addicted past on a new one Oprah: Where are they now?
“I started drinking really heavily and telling people, ‘I’m on a really bad path right now. I need help,'” Carter recalls.
His downfall began when his parents, Robert and Jane, divorced in 2003. The depression that accompanied the divorce drove Carter to excessive partying.
It was at this time that Dancing with the stars came along, which gave him hope for a pop music comeback, but it didn’t work out too well for him either.
